The monsoon has arrived. Finally the heat of summer will come at ease and monsoon will bring for us a feeling of freshness & joy. While you enjoy your monsoon you need to make sure that you have taken all the security measures for the safety of personnel and property.

During the time of monsoon flooding due to heavy rain is very common. Due to Flooding every year many shopkeeper bear loss as the water spoil the goods worth lacks in their shops. Here are few tips for you to prevent any such losses.

1- Keep the electrical equipment & wiring safe- Raise switches, sockets, circuit breakers and wiring at least a foot above the expected flood level in your area. Modify your furnace, water heater and any other anchored indoor equipment so that it sits above your property’s flood level.

2-Install back-flow valve- In case of flooded sewer system the water can get in your home or shop. If you often face this problem then it is better to install a water pump that can flush the water out side.

3- Understand the flow of water around your house- The drainage system in your house or shop should be designed according to the the sewer system around your house. Remember that if your drainage is at lower than the ideal height then there are chances of overflowing water entering your house or shop.

4- Customize the premise for flooding- Hire janitor to clear the drains of any obstruction. Make sure that the walls are strong and properly sealed. You can also build small brick wall at the places from where the water enters.

5- Insure the safety of valuables- Prepare shelves to keep the things off the floor. Do not keep important documents and valuables in the ground floor or basement; keep them upstairs where they are safe.

6- Minimize your home water use during heavy rainfalls.
